There are times when I miss you. Then there are times when all I want to do is "make my way back from Mars."

When will it feel "better than ever"?

I want to "lose myself within a morning star", that is like, the ultimate metaphor for being young and alive, because you know that morning star will be from one of only many more mornings to come.

I only have about a hundred years to live. I've nearly spent 17 of them.

I'm afraid I might have reached the peak of happiness, but I thank God, because I know there is more. There is more to come.

It is actually not fair to say I've spent all 17 of them. I haven't been conscious enough to spend the first few ones. So, say I've spent maybe nine years of my life. The other ones are lost to the subconscious forever.

Am I terrified that those lost ones could have probably been the best years?

No I'm not, because I think people romanticize their early years too much. They miss the point.

Which is you cannot be fully happy without experience. Happiness is solid experience that can be recalled and relived because at one time it was Lived.

Happiness is not some vague memory.

At least not for me. I hope not for you.

It's raining outside. What are we doing here? Let's take a walk. Umbrella? Nah.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

We're outside now. The world is tinged with gray. The rain died down to a light drizzle just as we stepped out the gate, which was perfect. The wind is picking up now. Our clothes are trembling against our skin. Can you feel it? Our feet are going squish, squash against the wet asphalt. I am holding your hand. Or you are holding mine. Or our arms are locked together. Or your arm is around me... Or we are embracing our own cold bodies... It depends. Who are you? ...It doesn't matter. Not right now.

What matters is I am walking on the left side.

Branches shiver above us, blessing us with more rain. Freedoms fly. It's quiet now. I miss you. Or I missed you. Or I will miss you, terribly. You nod. You sigh. You say, "[Aw...] Me too." We keep walking.

We cut through the park. Our feet are getting wet. I hate walking through wet grass. I hate getting mud on my feet. But I choose to enjoy it, and I do. It's kinda nice how our feet are cold now, and how we can feel the earth between our toes. I kinda like how your feet are muddier than mine. I am laughing. You are laughing. We are both annoyed, but laughing. Why the hell did we go through the park?

We both have muddy feet now.

We're back on the street. A cat is hiding underneath someone's old sports car. The clouds have begun giving way to the sun. It's getting warmer and we're heading back to my house. The village seems to be coming back to life. We are no longer alone. People have started playing at the basketball court. Someone's jogging past us. Maids are chatting on the sidewalk. You've gone quiet, all of a sudden.

I wish you'd tell me what's on your mind.

We're back home. You give me a pat on the back. Apir. Secret handshake. A wink. A silly face. A long embrace. A quick hug. Beso. Kiss.

Will I see you again tomorrow?

1) One of my sims was abducted by a social worker. Or so I'd like to think she was abducted whenever the pangs of 'parental negligence' (which here is connoted as leaving out in the cold) kick in. Why, of all the things to weep over...

2) I swallow gum. I just realized that today. I SWALLOW GUM.

3) YEY! Telebabad mate on TV earlier!

Dad: "I like her as your friend. You should hang out with her a lot"

Aba aba aba, someone will be flattered.

4) I can't wait for school to start. I definitely have a positive feeling for this school year. :)

Actual out-look time!! talk about college )

Am still sick (=_=;;) I've been using a nebulizer so sometimes I only type using one hand. Very troublesome really. Today I have to head down to school to harass my teachers for not giving me my report card yet as well.

I've gottten LSS from Kame's 16 seconds. And now I can't stop watching the damn video ~X( I know it's Kame and he resembles a lizard sometimes and he really isn't the most goodlooking one out of the bunch and he looks like Pokwang most of the times and he totally copied Matsujun's eyebrows and he bothers me with his shaking of his almost invisible hips ...did I say that? O_O but damn Kame can perform ~X( He's alot like Yabu NOOO I JUST COMPARED YABU TO KAME. Even though I don't like Hey! Say! JUMP that much I still stay tuned to them because Yabu is there and even though Yabu sings that god damned song(JUMP), I still like him because he's a good performer.

FOR WHAT KAME LACKS IN LOOKS, HE MAKES UP WITH TALENT!!Kame's charismatic isn't he? Maybe it's just my imagination... ilu Kame you know that 8DDDD

The realm of Juniors has been nothing but nutty for me these past months D: D: Kamei isn't appearing in Shounen Club anymore and his face wasn't even shown during their performance of Honey Rider in the HSJ DVD. YOU AND I?!!! They can't take away the one single junior that can make me laugh with just 3 words :(( :((
Then in the last Shounen Club I saw Nozawa wearing Kamei's costume which for me is like the kiss of death in Juniors(when another Junior wears your costume, you most probably really ain't coming back). Now, Shounen Club is shoving all these random chibi juniors infront that can't even cam whore properly yet AND NEEEEEED to have their eyebrows waxed(Kame?? can you help?).

comment about juniors seen so far in shokura )

bye bye for now :D

Jet Lag and interesting reads [May. 12th, 2008|04:06 am]

arianne_009
[Tags|, , ]
[mood | jet lagged and thinking]

I have jet lag, so I cannot sleep. I'm seriously thinking of hitting myself with something just so I can be out for the hours that I have to be, and blissfully awake after. Oh well. Not today though. Meeting Justine and Jean later. Not tomorrow either, I have blockmates to catch up with. So Wedensday? Anyone got a brick or something?

In other news, I was reading Sir Exie's blog, and he posted an article-reply in response to one made by a lawyer lady some time ago. I actually found it very intriguing and intelligent, well on his part anyway. See here's the lady's article. Here's my teacher's article. I'm posting his public blog since his multiply is for contacts only.

Anyway, everyone who knows me knows I'm not a staunch supporter of extremely deep Filipino, especially the one found in our lovely required reading back in fourth year, "Mga Ibong Mandaragit". Sad to say I don't think I ever fully appreciated that piece of Literature. I'm only thankful that I had a good teacher to at least show me the importance and the intricacy of that novel. (Hey Mrs. Marasigan!). That being established, I was offended by Mrs. Veneracion's approach, her reactions, and her conclusions. It is one of pure ignorance, and maybe embarrassment. I experienced reading that novel, and other works written with the same kind of language, and not once did I seriously think that it was the author's fault that I was having a hard time. It was all completely on me.

To degrade Literature like that is horrible. Calling Jose Garcia Villa's poetry "crap" is unthinkable. She says Literature should be easy and understandable, both very relative words actually. And I don't agree with that. I myself am a fan of things I easily understand, and among my classmates I sometimes think I am the more shallow one when it comes to Literary thought, but Literature takes time and effort. It is not art if at once you can understand it, can completely appreciate it the first time around. I'm not being elitist here, but by gosh kill me when the time comes that the only literature we have would be the kind that is fully comprehended by a fourth grader.

A very important thing I learned from my fourth year Humanities teacher, art is art, it takes skill, and it is always to be taken in in eventuality. The full range of your appreciation and understanding for a work will not come to you in a moment, in the first time, in a day. It will come to you throughout your lifetime.

I am thankful for all my Literature teachers then, the very good ones and the very bad ones. They all showed me that there is something more to Literary pieces. Always. I wish this lady had the kind of teachers I had.

I agree with Sir Exie when he says that it is not the author's fault that his words do not suit our generation, that what he wrote then we find hard to understand now. We cannot expect Amado V. Hernandez to write in our context. He wrote in his, and that's a good thing. What appreciation, what education can we derive from things that are always customized to suit our needs after all? How will we truly learn about the development of Literature, about its origins, about its various contexts when we constantly yearn for things to suit us.

I understand that Literature has to be universal. That's one of its non-negotiable characteristics, but that does not mean it has to come easily to everyone to be regarded as good, or real literature. Being universal means having human experience, means having that thing that touches everyone of us, that connects with our lives. It does not mean being easy.

Admittedly I suck at Filipino, and when at times when I am asked if I would like to be fluent in another language, (the regular answers would be French or Spanish, maybe Italian for some), I would want it to be Filipino. Unthinkable, I know, since I am a Filipino, and it's expected of me to be fluent in my native tongue. I'm not. There I said it, but I would never take out my own faults on literary works. They deserve way more respect.

Snow on Star-Watching Hill [May. 11th, 2008|10:46 pm]

writtenbyhand
[Tags|, ]
[mood | pensive]
[music |The Ghost of Genova Heights | Stars]

I found this in an old notebook of mine this afternoon: I think I wrote it before my birthday this year, hence the little references. Haha, it just surprised me that I'd written something like it.

Small similarities to Northern Lights may be noted - I think it's due to the fact that I wrote this, forgot about it, then unconsciously recycled the circumstances.

&

We are being stupid: he and I are sitting beside each other atop the star watching hill, which on this mid-January evening is smothered by thick sheets of snow. It is impossibly cold, so he and I have pooled together some small change - the only money either of us was carrying - and bought a single large take-out cup of the most potent coffee we could find, which we are now sharing.
"God, it's cold," he laughs, shifting his legs so he can sit with his arms resting on his knees.
I rub my hands together absently. "But it's beautiful."

He nods. The city beneath us has been touched with the charm of tenderness - the same one so characteristic of snow. "I love it like this. It's so quiet. In my apartment I don't get this view," he says. "The part of town where we live is quaint and all, but it hasn't got a vista like this."
"True," I say. "Our street has all these picture-perfect houses with their shoveled driveways and whatnot. But when you see the city like this..."
"Yeah. Yeah. Look at those lights."
I smile. "I do love those lights."

He chuckles and takes a swig from the cup. "Speaking of things you love - anything in particular you want for your birthday? I mean, it's three days away."
      I shrug. "I dunno; I haven't anything in mind."
      "Nothing at all?"
I rub my arms. "How about a little bit of warmth," I kid, shivering. "I don't want a lot - just the things you can't buy."
"Some happiness," he suggests tenderly. I nod.
      "A little laughter."
      "Some peace."
      "A little love."

"A little love," he agrees, staring at a faraway thing. I watch him, gazing at his profile, fighting to subdue the ache in my chest.
"If only," I sigh, looking away. I'm a hopeless fool.
He shifts to cross his legs and says, "Soon."
I glance at him. "I hope so." His eyes are on me.

Wordlessly, he offers me the styrofoam cup, and I swill it a little, inhaling the strong aroma of caffeine. He smiles and looks away, somewhat sad. I touch my lip to the small pocket of space on the lid of the cup, where his lips once were. Soon.

Yes, I think to myself, in the middle of this counterfeit kiss. I hope so.

Neglected [May. 11th, 2008|05:08 pm]

[mood | accomplished]

This journal has been neglected for so long. I apologize.

In anycase I am back from Europe. It was fun and beautiful. You really have to go there and see the things that are not given justice in pictures like the statue of David, the Arc de Triumph, the Sistine Chapel, Notre Dame...marijuana. Haha.

What can I say? I've been to places. I've missed the faces. Did you know, in Amsterdam, marijuana is legal? Yes of course you knew that, but they also have mj products! They have lollipops, chocolate, pancakes, mints, potato chips, candies, all with either marijuana or hash in them. Cool huh? You can get high just from walking around the streets. Plus there's a really awesome theme park in the middle of the city. There's this thing like a flying fiesta that goes high up above most of the buildings. Plus there's a ferriswheel of course. There were also these games that involves the crane thing, but the machine was as big as three photobooths. I mean, ang laki. Anyway. There was other stuff too. WINK WINK.

Like Leiron said, disneyland for college kids.

Oh if we went to Amsterdam, it also follows that we went to the Vatican. (Labo.) There were Swiss guards there! :D With the funny costumes. To be a swiss guard you have to be a guy, single, catholic, born in Switzerland, and you must be able to speak this or that language. Cool huh?

Saw lots of Jesuit places too. They're everywhere. St. Ignatius even has his own niche in the Vatican.

Europe has a lot of beautiful churches. Notre Dame takes the cake. The Jesuit mother church in Rome was beautiful too, and of course there's St. Peter's.

There are so many bodies in Italy. :| Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, St. Mark, St. Paul, the Popes, Machiavelli, Gallileo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Florence Nightingale, and many more. Cool cool. We saw them. We even saw St. Francis Xavier's hand. Yes friends. His hand. Nakadisplay.

We went to the Black Forest. It's called that because if you go in, the forestry is so thick you won't be able to see the sky when you look up.

Venice is nice too. Venice, wow, where Othello happened, or at least part of it. Haha. Gondoleers are cute. Venice is filled with pigeons. It made me cringe. Hmm hmm, but over all it's beautiful and if I had to pick a place to live in it would be there....or Amsterdam, both have canals. Lol. Anyway, Venice had lots of little side street shops and quaint hotels. It's sinking about an inch every century. Not too bad. :)

Germany. Hmm, didn't like it too much, but it had it's charms. We saw where Rizal lived while he was in Heidelberg.

Honestly, I can't really recap the whole trip. It was too much, then again considering how many countries we saw and the time we spent in each, one can see how it could have been too little. It was too little, but I will make up for it another time. It's very very good to be back home.

Misc stuff + Tagged [May. 10th, 2008|07:33 am]

ginny_chan
So... haven't been updating. Again. Since school is already over, but I've been lazy most of the time. The ony things occupying my time are Hannah Montana (yes I'm actually trying to watch every episode, excuse the naïve preteen in me) and LPEP (the frosh welcoming thing wherein I freak out people by being Sadako and giving away candy at the same time).

I failed a subject, which is a major disappointment for me and my parents. Because of that, I'm not allowed to cosplay or attend any conventions unless my parents are 100% sure that it wouldn't conflict with anything related to academics. So for now, the only event I'll be attending is for JICC thing this July because our school was invited and the department head took it. So yeah, I'm cosplaying out of necessity (which sounds totally ironic).

I really hope I won't be delayed because of that 3-unit major subject. I want to graduate on time with my friends and go to Japan together (if we manage to scrape up enough money by begging from our parents). x_x

-------

I've been tagged about 3 times already, but I always forget to do this. Forgive me. ^^;

1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person should post 8 facts of themselves.
3. Tagged people should write a journal\blog about these facts.
4. In the end tag and name 8 people.
5. Go to their pages and comment saying that they are tagged.

1. I despise people who speak in Japanglish ("You know that baka number ichi? He thinks he's so kakkoi demo he's not.") but please don't get me wrong. I don't mind people who do it for the lulz (they're amusing most of the time) but gaaah... the people who actually think they're superior because they know something else other than "baka" and "kawaii". LEARN SOME PROPER GRAMMAR, PEOPLE.
2. My manga folder is over 10GB, but it would have been over 15GB if I didn't delete anything. And have I mentioned it's purely shounen-ai/yaoi? ^_^
3. My favorite threat to guys when they piss me off is that I'll chop off their you-know-whats, then make them mince, fry and eat it themselves. Oddly, it works. For girls (and sometimes guys too), it's gouging their eyes out with a spoon. It works too.
4. I've been studying Nihongo for almost 2 years already, but I'm still nervous when I try to converse in pure Japanese.
5. I used to get an almost-daily fix of bacsilog (bacon, fried rice and egg) from my favorite stall in Agno (the alley behind our school that sells yummy street food). I had to stop because it was affecting my health.
6. I have a major crush on Dante Basco (yes, the fangirly type of crush), partly because he's the one who's dubbing Prince Zuko. Other than that, he's an awesome dancer. *squee*
7. I really miss ROTC, especially AGTI (Annual General Tactical Inspection). We only had around 120 cadets that time (already including those participating in the comprehensive exams, M16 assembly/disassembly, etc.), the lowest in DLSU history. PMI (Philippine Maritime Institute - every school's biggest rival) had more than 300 cadets just for the field events. Each of them had to participate in just one or two, more than half of us had to participate in all four (Ranks Inspection, Arrival Honors, Pass-In Review, Close Order Drills). It was still fun though. And we totally kicked PMI's butt. :D
8. I tend to have this really bad blurry-picture streak more than half the time, which is a major disadvantage because I love taking pictures (me = photographer wannabe) and plan on having a decent dSLR someday. I hate my shaky hands. DX

I refuse to do #5 because I'm lazy, so I tag anyone who's interested in doing this. ^_^
